IN PERSON CHAPTER LEARNING EVENT

Building Personal Capability

Big Bets, the Science and Art of
Effective Decision Making

Jeffrey Horne, Ed.D.
Principal Program Manager, Coursera

Raise your hand if you would like to make better decisions. Whether you were brave enough to raise your hand or not, you won't want to miss this months learning event. We can all benefit from understanding how to make effective decisions. We are pleased to welcome Jeffrey Horne, who will guide us in how to build personal capability through effective decision making.

Get ready to connect with like-minded professionals and exchange ideas on how to take your decision-making skills to the next level.

This in-person session will help participants be able to:

  • Differentiate between the nuances and types of decisions employees face each day.
  • Describe strategies for tackling each type of decision.
  • Deconstruct biases towards "big bet" decisions.

We are delighted to bring back our monthly lunch session.

This event is free for ATD Utah Members. Lunch will be provided and the presentation will start at noon.  Please arrive at 11:30 to eat and network prior to the presentation.

About Jeffrey:

My purpose is to learn and grow every day, and support others as they learn and improve their lives. I strive to harness positivity and focus to drive long-term goals within myself, my organization, and within others. I am infatuated with the term "possibility," and the concept of making things better than they were before, thus helping better communities around the world.

With 13+ years in the learning industry and a background in learning theory and organizational change, I specialize in leading cross-functional and cross-organizational teams and stakeholders in developing targeted learning experiences and strategies that drive behavior change and organizational results for top companies and institutions such as Edward Jones, Coursera, Microsoft, Meta, the University of Michigan, Tulane University, and others. Such experiences include, but are not limited to software engineering certificates that have helped over 10,000 job changers become fluent in front-end, back-end, and other software engineering careers in under 10 months, developing the the United States #1 online MBA, supporting the seamless learning and professional development of 16,000+ financial advisors across North America, and helping over 150,000+ high school students master their understanding of legal precedence and the impact of US Supreme Court decisions throughout history.

You can find me enjoying all that Salt Lake City, UT has to offer including skiing, camping, rock climbing, boating, pickleball and golfing with his three children. When I'm not playing with my kids, I enjoy dancing (Latin and West Coast Swing), playing softball, or playing board games with friends and neighbors.

Note: This is an in-person learning event.
