Lead with Questions: Elevate Team Performance with Effective Coaching

Leaders often limit their team’s capability to embrace change and accelerate growth by being overly directive. They “tell” but don’t “ask” when interacting with team members. This approach conveys a lack of respect and trust in team members that reduces creativity, collaboration, and engagement.

In contrast, leading with effective coaching questions conveys trust in team members and taps into their collective genius in ways that elevate team well-being, engagement, and performance.

Extending Storyline with Simple JavaScript Snippets

Storyline has many capabilities and limitations, like basic animations and some advanced logic. With simple JavaScript snippets, you can extend Storyline's functionality, even if you're not a coder.

In this session, we'll cover simple JavaScript snippets to enhance Storyline. We'll create an independent timer, detect the current date and learner's device type, and add custom animations like scaling, rotation, and sequencing. These snippets will add a 'wow' effect to your Storyline courses.

The Six Sources of Influence: How to Create

Lasting Behavior Change

The ability to influence others is at the core of true leadership–and it's crucial for driving positive change in any organization. Yet human behavior can't be altered with a singular strategy; instead, it's governed by six sources of influence. In this session, you'll learn how to leverage these proven sources to create real, lasting change and better results.

Leading Change While Strengthening Culture

If you want employees to embrace a change culture, they must understand the change vision and direction of the organization. Leaders hold the responsibility of navigating employees through change paralysis and into engagement. This session will provide an opportunity for leaders to understand how employees transition through change and provide steps to lead changes in your organization. Those who successfully implement change will be integral in their organization’s success.

Travis leads an award-winning culture for Herriman City as their HR Manager, while also moonlighting in Risk Management for city legal claims.  He has a mild addiction to Dr. Pepper and requires a personal fridge full of both diet and regular depending on the HR issues for the day.  Currently he is lucky to be functioning as three young kids, including a set of twins, suck his life blood and call him “Big Blue Guy” thanks to Bluey. After over 15 years in the HR field and a Master’s in Human Resources, Travis has not yet turned fully cynical of employees and has found a balance of being a consultant for front line employees up to the highest level of Executives.

A Fresh Approach to Talent Planning

Annual talent planning provides a unique change opportunity for leaders to recommit to investing time in building employee skills now and for future workforce needs. Traditional approaches result in ineffective leadership practices: labeling employees, debate about box placement, and substantial time justifying potential. During this session we challenge leaders to think differently about their approach and share a new methodology that places employee development at the center of the process.

Barbara Schifano is a dreamer, achiever, and a maximizer of talent. A learning and development professional with more than 20 years of experience building award-winning development programs, Barbara is the Senior Director of Talent and Learning at University of Phoenix. She leads a talent organization focused on transforming learning opportunities into magical experiences, and creating engaging programs (onboarding, performance management and employee engagement) that connect and inspire employees so they can be at their best.

Barbara’s passion is volunteering her time to create learning opportunities and resources that enable the growth and development of others. She has served on several non-profit boards and currently serves as the Past President of the Utah Chapter for the Association for Talent Development (ATD). She holds a master’s in strategic communications and leadership from Seton Hall University and earned the Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD). She resides in her version of Switzerland – the base of Mount Timpanogos in Utah, with her husband, Marc, and their two fur babies.
